About our Club

The Railways Football Club is steeped in history. The current club evolved from a team which played occasional football in Kalgoorlie-Boulder in 1899 known as the “Locomotives Club”.

The first Premiership came to the Club in 1903 and in the same year, the Kalgoorlie Railways Club won the State Premiership by defeating East Fremantle. Kalgoorlie Railways won the Premiership again in 1904 and 1905, completing a hat trick.

Further Premierships came in 1911, 1912 and 1919, 1920, 1929, the State Centenary Year, and in 1931. After a lean period, the next premiership was won in 1939 followed by 1941 and 1945. Premierships during the fifties came in 1952 and 1958. The 1958 Premiership was a treble year with A Grade, A Reserve and Juniors all taking out the top pennant. The sixties were vintage years for Railways with Premierships in 1960, 1963, 1964 and 1966 plus involvement in the Grand Final in all other years except one.

Railways most successful decade occurred in the seventies. Premiership pennants were won in 1971, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1978 and 1979. The 80’s period was not quite so fruitful, winning years were 1983 and 1987. The most recent premierships were in 2000, 2002, 2006, 2011, 2012 (Undefeated), 2014 and a pulsating finish in 2017 where we came from 19 points behind at Three Quarter Time on a 32 degree day to defeat Mines Rovers by 5 points.
